I completed my training for the coveted Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) professional designation through the National Association of Realtors. Here's some trivia you may not know....
COVID affected the global economy just like the US. Housing inventory shortages created a buying frenzy worldwide, increasing prices. All countries are fighting fierce inflation, not just the US.
Good places to invest in real estate today: Madrid, Spain, Paris, Belize, and many others.
In France, Buyers pay their Realtors a 5% commission.
Mortgages in the UK reset after 5 years.
Germany's economy is very strong.
US can learn from Europe in terms building "greener."
New condos in Belize are selling from $160,000 for 765 sq ft, ocean front unit with balcony access...only 10 are left. Developer anticipates a quick return on investment. Also 1, 2, 3-bedroom luxury condos from $300,000. This new community opens in spring of 2024. Call Linda Holley, Realtor, Sarasota, 941-914-4914 for more info.
The language of Brazil is Portuguese.
Brazil is the home to the largest Japanese population outside of Japan.
Top internet users per capita: 1. China; 2. India; 3. US.
According to the Global Peace Index, the most peaceful countries are Iceland and Denmark, followed by Ireland.
Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, is Sarasota, Florida's sister city.
China is a major trading partner of many Latin American countries.
Americans are departing the US in unprecedented numbers (gun violence?).
Always consult immigration and tax professionals when investing outside your country of origin.
People from a low-context culture value clear rules, direct communication, results, fast pace, and punctuality (Swiss, German, Scandanavian, American, India, Australian, other northern European countries).
Individuals from a high-context culture value implicit rules, direct communication, relationships, and slower pace needed to develop relationships (South American, Asian, Arab, Southern European countries).
Perceptions of Time. What does being late mean? It depends on where you're from. In some cultures, such as Germany and Switzerland, being on time is highly important. In other countries, such as Mexico and India, schedule disruptions are common and easily accepted in business.
Never greet foreign-born prospects by their first names unless they ask.
Do NOT use the term "Hispanic" referring to any Spanish-speaking person residing in the US.
When someone offers you their business card, don't stuff it in your purse with your perfume and shopping list. That is an insult to some foreign-born customers. Look at it, comment on the photo/logo, and put it away in a business card case.
There's so much more that I learned that I'll post on future blogs.
