Hello and thank you for reading my blog. New Segments are now Open on Legacy Trail - Sarasota County's Bike Path Connecting Sarasota to Venice!

Formerly a railroad corridor, the bike trail passes through beautiful and unique natural habitats and features unite points of interest. There are many  places to stop and rest along your journey.

New segments of the Legacy Trail extensions: Proctor Road to Bahia Vista Street; Culverhouse Nature Park to Sawyer Loop; and north of Ashton Road to Proctor Road. Future plans are to connect the trail from downtown Sarasota to North Port, Florida, home of the Atlanta Braves Spring Training ballpark.

Stop, rest, learn about Legacy Trail's history or just walk along the trail and enjoy nature at its best. Park at one of these trailheads: (Parking areas and trailheads are dog-friendly).

1. Culverhouse Nature Park in Sarasota.
2. Legacy Trail Access-McIntosh Road in Sarasota
3. Osprey Junction Trailhead in Osprey.
4. Oscar Scherer State Park in Nokomis.
5. Laurel Park and Sandra Sims Terry Community Center in Laurel.
6. Nokomis Community Park in Nokomis.
7. Nokomis Riverview Park in Nokomis.
8. Patriots Park in Venice.
9. Historic Train Depot in Venice.
